1966 Mustang GT Convertible

April 1966 marked the first anniversary of Mustang production. Ford marked the month by adding two new option packages to the line up. Customers could order the GT package, a set of performance upgrades consisting of the 'A' code high compression engine, front disc brakes, heavy duty handleing suspension, unique dual Trumpet exhaust that exited through the rear valance panel, and grill mounted fog lights . Appearance minded folks opted for the Pony Interior package, a set of interior accents that included simulated wood grain steering wheel and wood grain decals on the dash (mimicked fine British cars such as Jaguars and Mercedes), door courtesy lights and special embossed seats.

This convertible has both packages, making it a rare, collectible Mustang. It is finished in Tahoe Turquoise with a striking two tone aqua and white interior. Finally, it is loaded with every other option you could have including 14" style steel wheels, center console, Rally Pac clock and tachometer set & air conditioning, and a very rare "Deluxe" AM FM radio.

Options Include:

-Dual Exhaust
-Pony Interior

-Automatic Transmission
-289 V8 with 4 Barrel carb
- Front Disk Brakes

--Rally Pac

--Center Console
--Air Conditioning
--Correct Style Steel Wheels
--Period Correct AM-FM Radio

This is an exquisite car that has been professionally restored in and out. All major components from the engine to the front disk brakes have been rebuilt and returned to original factory specifications as needed. Many NOS new old stock parts were used in cosmetic restoration, including a Ford Motor Company manufactured rear bumper that sat covered in an old parts warehouse for four decades; you can tell the difference in the finish of the chrome when held next to a modern day reproduction.

This San Jose built car retains its original floorpans and you can see the red oxide factory undercoating on the underside of the panels. We spent over 6 hours going over every detail on this car & to make sure it is a factory GT. Major mechanical components were checked, and the car test driven. The car was inspected, verified and purchased for a European colletor by Mustang Dreams. We can source similar cars, for more info see info about our locating and inspection service.
